A software engineer is both creative and a problem-solver, responsible for building Software Development or Software Integration solutions for a set of Applications understanding the business needs. A senior software engineer must have an array of technical skills and should be confident using technologies like Power BI or other visualization tools, SQL, and Python is a plus. Experience with Azure DevOps Software is nice to have. Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus. This role requires adherence to a hybrid schedule at our Hartford, Connecticut office.Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in application development efforts; includes coding, testing, debugging and documentation per technical design specifications.
• Has expertise in most Talcott key technologies such as Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Python.
• Enforces adherence to the Talcott software development lifecycle and security policies.
• Responsible for ensuring viable solution options are considered and ensures detail design specifications are completed (review and sign-off).
• Ensures appropriate documentation of technical issues including impact assessment, root cause, and resolution.
• Analyze, design, and develop software programs to automate data feeds.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience in data modeling and visualization techniques in Power BI and working with modern programming languages like SQL, Python, etc.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data requirements for reports.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities.
